YWAM Bethlehem SA

History
YWAM South Africa gave birth to a base in the little town of Bethlehem. Suddenly Miguel, from Argentina and Marlien Godoy, from South Africa, along with their 3 daughters, found themselves in the middle of an extra-ordinary story about God's provision. ​
In 1995 both of them went separately to Equatorial Guinea (the only Spanish speaking country in Africa) in Central West Africa, where they directed the DTS for several years and helped build the YWAM base in Bata. They met in Argentina during Marlien's DTS in 1994 & Miguel was one of the leaders. They got married in June 1996 in Bata, with a typical African wedding. Both daughters, Damaris Ayecaba and Genevive Inimbing were born in Equatorial Guinea. In 1999 they also started a new DTS and established a new YWAM Base in Malabo, Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea. 
 
With this background, they had the desire to start the first YWAM base in the Free State as they felt God leading them there. YWAM Bethlehem being the first Afro-Latin base in Africa brings a special flavor to this YWAM base. It is the desire of the founders, Miguel and Marlien Godoy that those who come and train in this base will go forth into all of Africa, into the Latino-speaking world and to "the ends of the earth."
The first DTS started on the 1st of April 2001. Miraculously, God provided all the needs.

Our Vision as an Afrolatin Base

"AFRO-LATINS IN FAVOR OF THE WORLD." 
Our base is a very strategic place where Latinos
& every nation can come to be prepared as
cross-cultural missionaries.They learn how to
speak English before they go into Africa and into
the world. Likewise, the Africans can come to
learn Spanish and go to Latin America or to any
Spanish-speaking groups as missionaries.
And to go to the ends of the earth to reach the
​un-reached with the Greatest News of the Gospel.
